CREATURE FEATURE: Sawfishes

Sawfishes are large, unique fish from the ray family that possess a saw-like snout called a rostrum. There are five species, all of which are threatened due to overfishing and habitat loss. They are sensitive to electric currents, allowing them to hunt effectively in murky waters, but their populations have dramatically declined and are now critically endangered in many regions.
