Divers help themselves to champagne on ‘protected’ wreck
Divers have reportedly looted bottles of champagne from the protected “Champagne Wreck” in Sweden. The wreck was discovered at a depth of 58 meters by the Polish Baltictech dive group. When they returned to the site, they found the area disturbed and some of its cargo missing. Baltictech divers had intended to conduct a detailed inventory and create a 3D model of the wreck but were cut short by bad weather. This event raises concerns about the protection of underwater sites.
