Finding A Martin Baltimore in Antikythera
A team led by Marinos Giourgas explored the waters off Antikythera searching for a WWII Martin Baltimore bomber that crashed in 1943. After several trips and much preparation, they finally located the wreck during a dive. The team discovered the airplane’s structure, including its cockpit and machine guns, showing signs of damage from its ditching. Their efforts not only uncovered this historical aircraft but also contributed to the community’s interest in making Antikythera a new diving destination.
