Exploring Virgin Wrecks Sub-St. Lawrence
In 2021, divers Sébastien Pelletier and Kevin Brown explored the St. Lawrence Estuary, discovering two previously unvisited wrecks: the Donnacona no. 1 and an unidentified schooner believed to be the Otter. Facing challenging weather and visibility, the team had to adapt their strategies to successfully locate and investigate the wrecks. After encountering dangerous conditions, including a near miss of being lost at sea, they identified the Donnacona no. 1, which sank in 1942. Their exploration of the Otter revealed artifacts, leading to ongoing research about its history and significance.
