Body of freediving firefighter recovered off Long Beach

The body of firefighter Connor J Lees was recovered off Long Beach, California. He went missing while freediving for lobster with friends in December 2024. Lees was a six-year veteran of the Los Angeles City Fire Department and loved the ocean. A joint search operation was launched, but it took months to find him. His body was discovered on March 28, 2025, and the fire department expressed deep condolences for his loss.
