20 Sea Lions Freed from Deadly Nets in the Gulf of California

Sea Shepherd and local partners rescued 20 California sea lions from dangerous abandoned fishing nets in the Gulf of California. This rescue operation focused on freeing animals entangled in nets, which are remnants of illegal totoaba fishing. The team used anesthesia and restraint to save the sea lions, tagging them for future monitoring. Ghost nets are a serious threat to marine life, and the efforts also include training community members to help prevent future entanglements. Each net removed helps save lives and protect ocean wildlife.
