New Video Documents the Reality of the Faroe Islands Grindadrap

In the Faroe Islands, pilot whales and dolphins are hunted in a practice called Grindadráp. Sea Shepherd’s new video shows these hunts and their aftermath. The hunts occur year-round, mainly in summer. Many animals killed are pregnant females and juveniles. Although officials say the meat is shared, evidence shows some is wasted. This practice harms the genetic diversity of the species, risking their long-term survival.
