Gas Management 101

The “Rule of Thirds” helps divers manage gas. It suggests using one-third of gas to reach a destination, one-third to return, and keeping one-third in reserve. While this works well for cave diving, it’s not always perfect for recreational dives. A simple method involves reserving a portion of gas and turning back when half the usable gas is spent. Always remember to be conservative with gauge readings and ensure effective gas management.
