Cargo ship VSG Glory sinks off El Quseir reef

The cargo ship VSG Glory has sunk near El Quseir reef after running aground on November 22, 2024. The ship, carrying wheat bran, lost power and hit the coral reef, resulting in fuel oil leaks. Although the crew was evacuated safely, the damage led to the ship sinking on December 2, 2024. The wreck now lies at depths between 22 and 60 meters. Fortunately, the local coral reefs sustained minimal damage, and restoration efforts are planned for the affected areas.
