A dangerous underwater lake called the “Hot Tub of Despair” is located about 3,300 feet below the Gulf of Mexico. Discovered by the research vessel E/V Nautilus, this lake contains extremely salty and toxic water, which can kill any marine life that enters it. The lake features unique structures, including mineral walls that rise 12 feet off the ocean floor and its own rivers and waterfalls. Its temperatures range from 46 degrees F to as high as 66 degrees F at a depth of 62 feet, with the total depth still unknown and possibly several kilometers deep.
