“Ditching” the Dirty Dozen 2024

Each year, Ocean Wise collects data on the most common litter found on Canadian shorelines, called the “Dirty Dozen.” This list includes items like cigarette butts, plastic pieces, and food wrappers, which can harm marine life and ecosystems. To prevent this litter, it’s important to make changes in our daily habits, such as reducing single-use plastics and choosing reusable containers. Participating in shoreline cleanups and supporting eco-friendly businesses also helps maintain clean oceans and waterways.
