Diving with Mimic Octopus – Is it a Snake or a Flounder?!

The mimic octopus can imitate other marine creatures to avoid predators. It has a small size and lives in shallow waters with sand or silt. When threatened, it adopts shapes of dangerous animals like lionfish or sea snakes. Divers can find mimic octopuses mainly in Southeast Asia, especially around Indonesia. They are unique for their ability to change color and shape quickly.
