English seagrass success promises worldwide boost

England has completed its largest seagrass-restoration project, which has shown promising results. The initiative aimed to restore eight hectares of seagrass beds in Plymouth Sound and the Solent Maritime area. Remarkably, the success rates for germinating seagrass seedlings increased from 5% to 33%. This project used innovative methods like seed broadcasting and seedling translocation. The results suggest that these restoration techniques could be applied globally to improve seagrass ecosystems.
