Recently, the author connected with Stephen’s granddaughter, who shared that he is still alive and 88 years old. Stephen recounted the incident, detailing his flight experience, the crash due to engine failure, and how he and his passenger safely landed in the ocean. After the crash, he faced a licensing issue but went on to have a successful career as a pilot for American Airlines.
