Torpedo rays are a group of electric rays, with 22 species globally. They are known for their ability to deliver electric shocks to stun prey, which can be seen in species like the leopard torpedo found in the Red Sea. Unlike some rays that swim with their wings, torpedo rays use their tail fins. Some species can produce strong shocks, even enough to knock a human unconscious. Generally, they pose little threat to divers.
