NHS England will close four hyperbaric chambers used for scuba diving, leaving only three functional chambers in the south of England. This change is concerning for diver safety, as it will reduce access to emergency treatment for decompression illness. The chambers in the North East, North West, and Midlands are losing funding, meaning divers there may face long travels for urgent medical care. The British Divers Safety Group warns that this decision poses greater health risks and affects emergency response in the diving community.
