In 2024, PADI and the AWARE Foundation celebrated significant progress in ocean conservation, thanks to the efforts of the Ocean Torchbearer community. They supported grassroots actions with over $700,000 aimed at marine debris removal and coral health monitoring. PADI worked with NOAA on coral bleaching surveys and pushed for a global treaty to combat marine plastic pollution. The Maldivian government took a major step by not resuming longline fishing, benefiting endangered sharks and rays. In Barbados, PADI is helping protect 30% of marine ecosystems and promoting inclusivity in diving with events like the PADI Women’s Dive Day.
