Angel sharks in the Canary Islands are now fully protected under Spanish law. This decision was made by the Spanish Ministry of Ecological Transition, adding them to the Endangered Species List. The Angelshark has greatly declined in numbers over the past century due to excessive fishing. The Canary Islands is currently the only place where these sharks can be frequently seen.
