Drowning can happen quickly and may not be loud. Look for signs like struggling to breathe or flailing arms. Respond to drowning by calling for help and providing rescue breaths. If someone is unresponsive, check their breathing and begin CPR. Always keep the patient warm and seek medical help, even if they seem fine.
Staying updated is crucial for emergency responders in scuba diving. Regular training helps maintain skills and confidence during rescues. Online learning through webinars is helpful, but in-person training is essential. Instructors receive updates to improve their teaching and skills. Better trainers create better responders, which benefits everyone in emergencies.
New EFR Instructor Lesson Guides are now available. These guides help instructors teach CPR and first aid. They include online and offline options for easy access. Instructors can quickly navigate through lessons using a menu system. Contact your local PADI Regional Training Consultant for more information.
The International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR) helps improve emergency care. They regularly review and update CPR and first aid standards. Emergency First Response® (EFR®) programs follow ILCOR’s guidelines. The latest review confirms current EFR methods are effective. Staying updated can help save lives in diving emergencies.
