The USS Kanawha, an oiler that played a crucial role in World War II logistics, sank in the Solomon Islands in 1943 after a Japanese attack. The wreck lies between 130 to 200 feet deep. The wreck was salvaged in the 1970s, has gun remnants, and engine room access. Read the article
