The Megalodon Was Wiped Out By An Apex Predator That Still Swims Today

The megalodon shark is believed to have become extinct due to competition with the great white shark, an active predator today. Great whites were smaller and quicker, allowing them to prey on juvenile megalodons. Additionally, as the Earth’s climate changed, megalodons stuck to warmer waters while other species adapted to cooler temperatures. This made it harder for megalodons to find enough food and led to their decline.
