The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation Celebrates Debris Removal Milestone

The National Marine Sanctuary Foundation has successfully removed over 100,000 pounds of debris from the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary. This achievement is part of the “Goal: Clean Seas Florida Keys” initiative, which aims to educate the public about marine debris. Since its launch in 2018, more than 1,500 dives have been conducted to collect trash by local dive shops and volunteers. The effort not only protects the underwater ecosystems but also supports the recreational economy in the Florida Keys.
