Wreck Of Spanish Privateer Found In Cape Fear River

Two divers discovered a 1700s Spanish privateer wreck in Cape Fear River. The wreck, named La Fortuna, was found during a survey by students. Poor visibility caused divers to become disoriented, leading to the discovery. The ship was destroyed by an explosion after a battle in the War of Jenkins’ Ear.
