Many people believe the Megalodon shark, thought to be extinct for millions of years, could still be living deep in the ocean. Scientists have previously been wrong about extinct species, leaving room for doubt about the Megalodon’s fate. With over 80% of the ocean unexplored, some sightings of unusually large sharks fuel the speculation. The Discovery Channel found that around 70% of viewers think the Megalodon is still alive. Recent discoveries of its teeth have also sparked interest in its possible existence.
