A 28-member team is set to explore the Pulau Muna cave system in Indonesia, starting October 13th. The team includes cave divers, scientists, and local collaborators, and is called “Expedition Buteng.” Their goals are to map the freshwater aquifer, study the cave’s characteristics with local scholars, and engage with Indigenous communities about their relationship with water. This project aims to support a UNESCO Geopark application for the area.
