Malta hyperbaric consultant suspended following death of Polish diver
A hyperbaric consultant at Mater Dei Hospital in Malta has been suspended after Polish diver Krzysztof Białecki died in July. Białecki and his diving partner were exploring the wreck of the SS Polynesian when they ascended without completing their decompression stops. Białecki was treated but later died after the consultant left him in the care of a trainee operator. An inquiry has been launched to investigate the incident and ensure better care for divers in the future.
