The Queen Conch, a vital marine species in the Caribbean, is facing severe population declines mainly due to overharvesting. The Curaçao Sea Aquarium established a Queen Conch Hatchery to aid in the conservation of this species. This hatchery is designed to breed and nurture conchs, increasing their survival rates and allowing them to mature before being released back into the wild. Additionally, the aquarium aims to raise awareness through educational initiatives like the documentary “Queen of the Seas.” Supporting such efforts is crucial for protecting the conch and maintaining healthy marine ecosystems.
