A new sea slug species, Pleurobranchaea britannica, was discovered off southwest England and Spain, expanding the known sea slug species to over 2001. This shell-less mollusc, a side-gill sea slug, measures 2-5 cm and was initially misidentified. The finding marks the first Pleurobranchaea species in UK waters. Read the article

A new species of side-gilled sea slug, Pleurobranchaea britannica, was discovered off the coast of Britain in 2018 and 2019. Measuring 2-5cm, it resembles Pleurobranchaea meckeli but was identified through DNA analysis by researchers at the University of Cadiz. Read the article
