Experienced divers may suffer from the Curse of Knowledge, forgetting what it’s like to be a beginner and overlooking crucial information novice divers might not know, leading to potential problems underwater. This cognitive bias was exemplified in a military debacle during the Crimean War due to misinterpreted orders. To combat this, seasoned divers should empathize with novices by adopting a learner’s mindset through further education or exposure to new diving challenges.
