World’s biggest coral discovered in Solomons

A giant coral colony, believed to be around 300 years old, has been discovered in the Solomon Islands. This mega-coral, called Pavona clavus, is three times larger than the previous record-holder and can be seen from space. It measures 34 by 32 meters and rises 5.5 meters from the seabed, with a circumference of 183 meters. The coral was found by scientists from National Geographic Pristine Seas during their expedition.
