Wreck-divers honour WW2 airmen each side of Canada

Two World War II bomber wrecks in Canada were recently commemorated by dive teams. The aircraft crashed and sank in 1943, with only one crew member’s body recovered from each. On November 9, divers from the Underwater Archaeological Society of British Columbia placed a 90kg concrete plaque at a wreck site off Vancouver Island. They also retrieved the aircraft’s navigator’s compass from the seabed for conservation.
