The Shark Trust launched a new campaign called the Big Shark Pledge to address the overfishing of oceanic sharks. They also introduced the Great Shark Snapshot initiative, inviting divers and snorkelers to record shark sightings. The trust encourages the boating community to contribute data on Basking Shark sightings to improve understanding of these endangered species.
