Photographing Indonesian Leatherbacks
Indonesian leatherback turtles are fascinating creatures that can dive deep and are vital to the ocean ecosystem. These turtles feed primarily on tomato jellyfish in warm, clear waters, making encounters challenging. Scuba divers often try to photograph them but may only see the turtles for short moments. Unfortunately, the leatherback population is critically endangered due to hunting and habitat loss. Conservation efforts are underway to help protect these ancient reptiles and raise awareness about their plight.
