Genetic evidence proves orcas predate on Australian great white sharks

Recent genetic evidence has shown that orcas, or killer whales, are preying on great white sharks in Australian waters. This behavior was previously noted in South Africa, and new findings confirm that orcas have recently hunted great whites in Australia as well. A study examined the carcass of a great white shark that washed ashore, revealing bite marks consistent with orca attacks. DNA tests confirmed the involvement of orcas, highlighting this predation event as significant in understanding marine ecosystems and predator relationships.
