CREATURE FEATURE: Common Skate
The Common Skate is now identified as two separate species, the Flapper and Blue Skate. Both species face conservation challenges and are considered critically endangered due to unsustainable fishing practices. The larger Flapper Skate can reach lengths of up to 3 meters and is mainly found in the Northeast Atlantic, but has become locally extinct in many areas.
