Diving Mallorca’s Marine Protected Areas (MPAs)
Mallorca, Spain, has developed Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) over the last 20 years to protect its marine life. El Toro Marine Reserve is a notable example that has improved the diversity of underwater species since its creation in 2004. Diving in these MPAs offers excellent experiences with vibrant marine life, including barracudas, groupers, and octopuses. While permits are usually needed to dive within MPAs, the pristine conditions and diverse species make them worthwhile for divers.
