A group of 10 rarely seen prickly sharks excited scientists during a submersible dive in the Cordillera de Coiba. These sharks, known for their thorn-like denticles, were spotted at depths of 150 to 350m. The sightings represent the first living evidence of these 4m long sharks in the area, previously classified as Data Deficient by the IUCN Red List, signifying their possible threat of extinction.
