Newly Discovered Deep-Sea Worm Moves Like a Magic Carpet
A new deep-sea worm species, Pectinereis strickrotti, was discovered near a methane seep off the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. The worm moves in a wavy pattern like a magic carpet, has feathery appendages for swimming, and is blind but likely has a keen sense of smell and touch. Its large jaws hint at mystery regarding its diet.
