North Atlantic right whales have the potential to live over 130 years, but human activities have drastically reduced their average lifespan to just 22 years. These whales face significant threats from collisions with vessels and entanglements in fishing gear. Currently, only about 370 North Atlantic right whales remain, making them one of the most endangered whale species. To protect them, it’s crucial to enforce speed limits in their habitats and to adopt ropeless fishing gear to minimize harmful interactions.
