Gruner See, or Green Lake, in Austria, transforms into a diver’s paradise each spring when melting snow fills it with crystal clear water, reaching depths of about 40 feet. Normally a shallow lake, it allows divers to explore an underwater world of submerged trees and pathways. Unfortunately, due to its popularity, the lake has closed to all aquatic activities. However, similar diving experiences can be found in Brazil’s Rio Olho d’Algua, which offers unique underwater parks every seven years with accumulated rainwater.
