Sea Shepherd is tripling its net-pulling operation to combat ghost nets harming marine life, especially the endangered Vaquita porpoise. Ghost nets drift in oceans for years, entangling and killing various marine animals. In the past decade, Sea Shepherd has removed over 1,000 ghost nets from the Vaquita Refuge, but there is still much work to do. The M/V Seahorse will upgrade its crane capacity from one ton to three tons, enhancing their ability to remove this dangerous debris and protect endangered species.
