SS United States could become world’s largest artifical reef

The SS United States, a historic ocean liner, might soon become the world’s largest artificial reef. Currently docked in Philadelphia, officials in Okaloosa County, Florida, are in talks to sink the ship off Destin-Fort Walton Beach. This would come at a cost of $1 million to the county and could provide another exciting dive site for both recreational and technical divers. The ship, if submerged, would surpass the current record-holder, the USS Oriskany, which is popular among divers.
