A new study suggests that turning popular scuba diving sites into Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) can benefit both marine life and local economies. Presently, only a small percentage of dive sites are fully protected, yet fully protected areas can restore fish populations by up to 500%. By adding a small fee to dive prices, it could raise $2 billion annually, helping local communities and dive operators. More protected areas would attract more divers, leading to a better underwater experience while supporting conservation efforts.
