Survey results on sidemount diving show that 84.9% of respondents were sidemount divers. Most sidemount divers use steel cylinders and choose this configuration for better valve access, passing restrictions, and trim. Many are considering sidemount rebreather diving. Non-sidemount divers interested in switching mention reasons like passing restrictions, flexibility, and ease of getting in and out of the water.
