Sea Shepherd’s Milagro Task Force recently pulled two large ghost nets from the Vaquita Refuge, highlighting the dangers marine life faces from illegal fishing practices. The first net was 457 meters long and contained various types of nets entwined, while the second, heavily anchored net measured 308 meters. Both extractions helped rescue live marine animals, underscoring the urgent need to protect the critically endangered vaquita. The removal of these nets is crucial in efforts to save this species and maintain healthy ocean ecosystems.
