Two SoCal Corsairs (Balboa Pier & Crystal Cove, CA)

This post shares the experiences of two dives at wrecks off Balboa Pier and Crystal Cove in Southern California. The first wreck, a Corsair near Balboa, is identifiable despite being a debris field. It tells the story of a pilot who mismanaged a flight that ended in a crash due to running out of fuel. The second Corsair wreck at Crystal Cove is more eroded and harder to recognize as an airplane, having been discovered in the 1960s. The dives highlight the historical context and current condition of these underwater sites.
