Unintended Consequences Of Lionfish Culling [Video]

Lionfish are a major problem in the Caribbean due to their rapid breeding and lack of natural predators. To address this, divers and fishermen have been culling lionfish, which is not harmful on its own. However, when culled lionfish are fed to other fish, it changes their behaviors and can put divers at risk. Fish like the mutton snapper may approach divers expecting food, making them vulnerable to spearfishing. Laws now mandate that all culled lionfish be removed from the ocean to protect marine life and diver safety.
